Smurf: Rescue in Gargamel`s Castle
Smurf: Rescue in Gargamel's Castle is a game released for Atari 2600 and ColecoVision where a brave Smurf must face challenges and save Smurfette from the terrible Gargamel's castle.
The version of this game for Intellivision was planned, however, it was never developed. Although this game was created before games had screen scrolling each time the player walks to the end of the screen, the game offers a change of scenery of the same environment.
During the game, the player controls the Smurf and needs to start his adventure inside the Smurf Village to enter a forest. Then, the player needs to cross open fields and a cave until reaching the castle of the terrible Gargamel to save Smurfette from the villain's clutches.
During the game, the player possesses an energy bar that decreases over time, which when it reaches zero, the player loses a life.
Within the horizontal scrolling game, the player needs to overcome various dangerous obstacles, such as jumping over fences, dodging cave stalagmites, and treading carefully on elevated grounds. When the player fails to face the obstacles, they lose instantly. In each level passed, the challenges become more difficult, and the player needs to face great difficulties with appearances of spiders and bats which the player must dodge.
